Chappy Jacinta is chaplain at Gunalda State School.

Chappy Jacinta runs breaky club and a lunchtime food program as well as the mentoring programme for some of the high schoolers.  Each term Jacinta implements & presents projects to support the student cohort in a number of different ways through programmes such as Shine, Rock & Water & Big Life Journal. Chappy Jacinta’s work means time spent with students who often need support as they deal with friendships, worries about school work or home situations or just looking for someone to share their ups & downs with.

She says: ‘Chaplaincy is first and foremost about relationship, connecting and taking the time.  It is a great privilege to be a safe person for young people to connect with.  I enjoy being available for the highs and lows, the whole journey.  I value the role of chaplaincy in supporting communication between families and schools and connecting the school community with the wider community through activities like mentoring.’
