Scripture Union is a Christian organisation seeking to bring God’s love, hope and good news to children, young people and their families. We work with local schools, local churches of all denominations, and community groups, towards a common vision: To see each child and young person connected and supported in community, serving others, and experiencing fullness of life.
SU QLD chaplains have been supporting Queensland school communities since 1990. Since this time, SU QLD has become the largest employer of school chaplains in Australia, with chaplains serving more than 800 school
communities in Queensland.
School chaplains work in the areas of early intervention and prevention, and promote positive behaviours by providing social, emotional, spiritual and practical
support for students. School chaplains help students find a positive way to deal with issues, ranging from family breakdown, to bullying, friendship,
and peer complications.
Scripture Union currently has chaplains employed at 131 schools in the Sunshine Coast Wide Bay area alone! Here in the Cooloola Region, we have grown from just 2 Chappies working across 3 schools in 2007 to now in 2020 with 9 Chappies across 13 schools including the Cooloola Coast and Mary Valley.
